Jim Suptic of The Get Up Kids Speaks Out on Emo!

For those that don't know Jim Suptic, he plays guitar in a band The Get Up Kids. Yes, the old emo bands PLAYED INSTRUMENTS! I know, I'm gonna let that sink in. Ok, you good? So, he was asked in an article for Drowned in Sound about their influence on emo. Pretty funny answers and VERY TRUE.

How do you feel about the ‘emo’ tag that Something To Write Home About led to? And what about that word, ‘emo’ – the connotations have certainly changed some over the years, pre and post-Get Up Kids.
Honestly, I don’t often think about the state of ‘emo’. The punk scene we came out of and the punk scene now are completely different. It’s like glam rock now. We played the Bamboozle fests this year and we felt really out of place. I could name maybe three bands we played with. It was just a sea of neon shirts to us. If this is the world we helped create, then I apologize.

And what do you think of the myriad bands who have sprung up in your wake, often to far greater commercial success? Certain acts have been particularly vocal in acknowledging the debt they owe you…
I think I summed it up in the last question. If a band gets huge and they say we inspired them, great. The problem is most of them aren’t very good. What does that say about us? I don’t know. Maybe we sucked. We at least can play our instruments.

Mothers Against Brokencyde

I have a feeling this is fake but still, very funny and very true.

Sure, this only fuels people watching them but also contributes to someone taking it for the team and removing this band from the planet.

UPDATE 8/6: Site is down, either Brokencyde took this down or the same Twitter takedown took this out and no one cares. Just a guess.

CRABCORE - The Latest Hell on Earth

For those that don't know about Crabcore, no it's not about Craig Owens, it's a new genre where from what I can gather, the bands use auto tune, play guitar/bass/sing and act like crabs. You will see when you watch. The most popular one today is Attack Attack!. Few videos to watch including the last one where they fucking admit to be fine with being labeled Crabcore. Brokencyde...I found a new target.

Fun things to watch if you want to jump around the official video:
1:17 - The Rites of Spring beginning of Crabcore
2:30 - Blink 182 Tattoo
2:53 - Running Man

The real video - Not as fun to watch as Keyboard Cat

My personal favorite - Keyboard Cat Plays off Attack Attack!

Photo of Brokencyde Walking Away From Me!

Here is the proof folks, Brokencyde was too busy to hang with me and take a photo at Warped Tour. I guess they are too busy practicing their "crabcore" moves or I didn't have boobies or they realized I was from Washed Up Emo. Regardless, they had to get to a "signing" aka, LOSERLINE.

I did finish one of my goals at Warped Tour and that was to see Alexisonfire. Pick up their new album, it rips.

Look Out Warped Tour 2009, Washed Up Emo is there Sunday!

I, Pierre, will be there Sunday participating in the "we need to just take these kids money ONE more year" Warped Tour in CT. Rumors is that it's just a big dance party. Hopefully a few bands can keep it together this summer. Look for a bunch of updates, videos and pictures of completely stupid bands that you all hate, love and want to punch in the temple.

Goals:
- Pause the Millionaire's backing track. I'm bringing my programmable remote.
- Find Brokencyde and lure them to the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Hartford where I brought a professional from Intervention. Going to need some help here people. Find me at the Truth bus.
- Give kids guitars, amplifiers and non-auto tune microphones. I know this is the toughest out of my goals but I'm talking to Gibson about this.
- See Alexisonfire.

SHOCKER ALERT! Millionaires DON'T ACTUALLY SING!

It's true everyone. I know it's hard to imagine but they don't sing. I'm going to a support group tonight to figure all of this out in my head. I'm not sure I can continue living knowing this.
